It’s Gonna Get Messy.

I’m throwing my hands up in exasperation. I never thought I’d hate any browser more than IE6, but then along came 7. I STILL can’t get the comments to display correctly, and given the number of you that still use Internet Explorer, I will just have to switch to a whole new theme. With shiny, new, and WORKING code! I hope. Gah. Hate IE7… so much. *grumble grumble*

So the short of it is, while I’m trying to work on installing a whole new theme, the site/code might look like hot-buttered a$$ for a few days. I’m feeling vaguely optimistic that it will all go seamlessly, however. Keeping fingers crossed!

Also, my email has gone KABOOM. I’ve lost all my messages, and my address book. If you’ve been trying to reach me for the past week or so, you’ve likely gotten non-delivery notices. Until my server can get this issue resolved for me, the best way to contact me for now is to send an email to my Yahoo account at seldomnice at yahoo dot com. (Just stick the word Scenzilla in the subject line, please.) So sorry. I am not sure what happened, and hopefully all my email info can be retrieved from whatever vortex it was sucked into.

Good luck, with all of it…the email, the new theme. Just wait until we all have to convert to Windows Vista *shudders*.

When it finally will come down to that, and I’m sure it will at some point, I’m going Linux. (Not a joke, the usual Microsoft bugs, and the intentionally buggy Vista interference for end users, just makes me ill to thinking about it. ) Thanks Robin. We’ll see how it goes. I’m still plotting and trying to figure out how I wanna do it with a minimum of IE-related fuss!

It is moments like this that I am profoundly grateful for my complete ignorance regarding all things computorial. Patty basically tells me what button to push.

I tried switching my browser ot the new IE7. Completely torqued everything. Email, everything. I had to uninstall and reformatt. WHICH I hope you don’t have to. Went back to the prior version. And if you have Norton, well, just jettison that as it slows down the computer horribly. Avast works just as well and it’s free.

I wish you much luck Unistall and reconfigure to a prior date. I know you have heard this, but you might just get lucky.

All the luck in the world to you.

March, honestly, if I weren’t so cheap, I’d just pay someone this time. I’m just too burned out on coding lately, sigh.

May, I have to upgrade and code for IE7 compatibility. I agree though - as an end user, I’d stick with IE6 as well. I don’t blame you for reverting back to the older, less buggy browser. If you can, try using the browser Firefox - much more web compliant, and most sites actually display and work BETTER with it than with IE. It takes a little getting used to a new browser, but Firefox is nice. Anyhow, since IE7 is the new Microsoft one, that’s unfortunately the one I have to write code for. It sucks. As much as a pain as making sites display in IE6 was, it feels like almost a Sisyphean task for IE7.

I am wishing you much patience, success, achievement, and happiness in perfection during this annoying time.

Bouquests of flowers redolent incense and a lovely crackling cold bottle of champagne at the end for you.

good luck with the IE…i gave up about a year ago, i.e. i’ve changed sides, am now on the linux camp, and things are easier. unless you require some specific win related programs, there are no major restrictions for switching. getting used to the new stuff is surprisingly quick and painless.

Are you back yet? I did switch to IE7, but I have to use it for some work things and really wanted the tabbed browser thing that you get with Firefox.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the support :) I especially appreciate the personal vouches for switching to Linux. It’s one thing to read about the platform in flat terms, but it’s quite another to know that on a personal level y’all are finding success with using it. I really appreciate it, since Vista is scaring the beejeebus out of me with what sounds like serious user unfriendly “tools.” Thanks so much!
