* Internet Exporer 7 is pants. I’m not sure what the deal with it is, and thus, my apologies to those of you who are using it to browse this site. That browser, and that browser alone, makes the comments appear screwy, and I don’t know how to fix that yet. I’ll keep at it, but I am not personally impressed by IE7. Sigh. If you like the tabbing feature on it, I strenuously suggest swiching over to Firefox, which handles “div”s (a component of most sites’ style sheets) with what seems like much better stability and standards compliance to me.

* I saw this news photo of a dog fashion show, and it’s so deeply wrong. It nearly completes some full octave of awful which circles around to hideously brilliant: meet meta dog.

* Christopher Brosius of CB I Hate Perfumes has been keeping a small online journal, and I am really enjoying reading it. I suppose this is old news to everyone, but I wanted to share the link: CB Journal.

* I found this little item from the Wall Street Journal interesting… Something about it appeals not to my fragrance-obsessive self, but to that little nine year old kid still in me that used to collect stickers. (The best ones to get were of course the scratch-and-sniff ones! Second best were the “puffy” ones.) Kraft Vies for Eyes — and Noses

* Not sure how I missed this earlier, but Hugo Boss’ campaign for their Green fragrances is really kind of neat. Sure doesn’t hurt that the campaign features Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, who is ever so pretty. Lots of images and info at the DWA Client page describing it. (Via AdRants.)

* If it wasn’t alreay clear, the whole celebrity fragrance thing has once and for all definitively “jumped the shark.” BetUs.com is now posting odds on which will be the next celebrity fragrance. Sure, it LOOKS like a big spoof-up, but when even Barry Manilow has a fragrance, I can’t help but feel there’s a grain of truth to it all.

* Coty’s Wild Musk commercial ranks at #29 on Giant Magazine’s 50 Greatest Commericals of the ’80s. Use it before you stalk? Egads!

  1. Thank you for the CB journal link. Although I knew the page I did not knew his journal…
This comment is writing with Firefox… But I just installed IE7 to see what happens on my and other blogs. Ahh… I hate it. As soon as you have things going stable to some extend here comes the nex thing. Which -by the way- looks pretty much like firefox to me. No reason to change.
And: I agree. this doggy thing is awful. Happy Fred!Greetings

  2. I foolishly upgraded to IE7 several weeks ago, and urrrgggh! It crashes too easily, too. I really dislike it. The comments seem to appear fine with all the other normal browsers, too besides Firefox. And IE6 works fine. It’s JUST IE7 that causes the problems. Bleh. I can’t believe Microsoft found a way to make Explorer worse. Good grief!

That doggie thing is going to haunt me. I can’t imagine dressing my furry little Fred up in fur. How sick is that!

  3. I didn’t know about the CB Journal — thanks! Now I’m off to Made by Blog, it’s been awhile since I dropped by.

  4. Thanks for the link to CB, didn’t know he wrote online. Verrrry interesting read.

Poor poor poochie! Not that my doggies have very much fur to keep them warm in the winter season, but dressing them up-out?? Nahhh, never ever. The only time Fiona had to use a raincoat (you know a real doggie one) was during obedience class during the fall-winter season and she hated it with a rightful vengence LOL.

  5. The doggie is horrific and yet hilarious.

  6. IE=evil. Never used it, never will

Hey, the dog lives in Russia. Havaheart…he’d freeze like a popsicle in 10 seconds without some schmattah over him.

Skimmed (no coffee yet!) to the bottom of the Brosius blog to see if there were archives, found the last sentence validating to what I do ;-) and posted the link on my NP and Guild groups so they can smile, too.

Kraft — I boycott all Kraft products for using GM products and not telling consumers on the box. Well, just for using GM products.
Figures they’d come up with something nutsy like this. Ick.

Who’s J. Rhys-Meyers and can I tell you how happy I am to be out of any of the celebrity loops, re: him/Barry Manilow? LOL!

Synth Musk? See..not only does it disrupt your reproductive system, it makes you wear funny clothes and have bad hair (guy).

  9. Thank you for affirming my recent decision to tell Windows “no thanks” when it told me I needed to “upgrade” to IE7. I mainly did it b/c I have all my toolbars customized to the hilt and it would have been a huge hassle to do it all again, but comments online (like yours) solidified it. Stupid IE.

I want a Judge Judy fragrance.

  10. I’ve been remiss, Katie, in telling you how much pleasure I derive from your posts…

    So, Thank You !

  11. march, Marina just wrote up her entry about her phone conversation with Clement, so you’ve got great timing there :)

Ylva, I saw it a while back, forgot, and then found it again. It’s really cool to read his thoughts on those various subjects. Ok, so I will admit, my Fred has a raincoat, and insulated rubber doggie boots so his pads don’t get frostbitten when he plays in the snow. He doesn’t much like his raincoat either. He’s come to terms with the boots, though, since he seems to “get” that he gets to romp with the kids in the snow longer when he’s wearing them.

kuri, it is funny, but it’s a weird kind of funny where you want to laugh but you’re too distracted by the heebie-jeebies to actually do it. I think that picture is going to haunt me for a while.

Anya, yeah IE is fairly evil, but unfortunately I have to have it because my husband’s employer has only written their site to be compatible with IE only. Idiots, they are!

Re: Jonathan Rhys-Meyers: Did you ever see Velvet Goldmine? It’s a very visually arresting movie, and he’s certainly a small part of that :)

Patty, oh yes, I need to sniff Cradle of Light now, too I think.

Robin, my favortie is the Paris Hilton “0Brain” one I think.

Trina, I would so wait until you absolutely HAVE to before “upgrading” from IE6. I can’t believe just the degree to which I am disliking it so much. Keeps crashing on me, too.

I think we really need a TV judge coffret, don’t you? I want a Judge Marilyn Milian one! And a Judge Mablean one!

chayaruchama, no, thank you. It’s always so nice to “see” your lively fun self ’round these parts :)

  12. Dude. I am SO peeved that Judge Mablean got replaced. And I love MM too :~D I think a coffret would work brilliantly, especially if there were frags for the men and the women! Call is “Smells Like Justice” or something.

    Trina

    10 Dec 06 at 8:10 pm

  13. But the Men’s coffret would just have to be “masculine” versions of the female judge’s scents. I can’t think of a single male judge on TV right now that I actually like watching. They’re all kind of douchey, I think. I miss Judge Joe Larry Joe (from Texas Justice.) He was awesome, but he’s not on the air anymore.

  14. I miss Larry Joe too! I love Judge Joe Brown (especially when he’s declaring someone “pitiful”), and Judge Alex is *exactly* like a guy I used to work with, which amuses me endlessly. Plus he can fire off some good smartass remarks every once in a while, and I’m all about that :~D

    Trina

    13 Dec 06 at 9:36 pm

  15. Noooooooo! I can’t stand Judge Alex. He’s so busy trying to be the hard-ass judge that he’s annoying!

Oh man, do you remember Judge Mills Lane? He was also the referee in the fight where Mike Tyson chose to bite Holyfield’s ear. I got to mount/archive the shirt Mills Lane was wearing for the fight - and it still had dried blood on it! It sounds kind of gross, and a little dorky, but I thought it was really cool. He was an awesome judge, too. Just cranky enough! Too bad he’s off the air, too.
