Solander, my sister suffers from the same attraction to the scent, though she's lately gravatated towards Moschino's similar I Love Love, which I like just a hair better. I think you're right about it being a "standard recommendation," because I hear it thrown out frequently to folks like that, too. Kind of a pity, because there is so much more out there for "newbies" than just Light Blue (and celeb scents, good gravy, when they will they stop with those??)

Flora, AH! So glad I'm not alone in finding it metallic in some way. I know some folks don't get that when they put it on, but it just kills me everytime. Even when others are wearing it.

I flipped the TV on and caught moments from the Madonna show here and there. Cirque du Soleil is right! Only, more like Cirque du Pro Tools. Her actual voice is nothing like that slick mix. But eh, with Madonna, everything is about the show, even the artificiality and implausibility.

LOL - I feel exactly the same about Light Blue - in fact I can't stand it.The metallic note "stabs" my nose and it's just such a cliche' of a scent that I feel its makers are indeed snickering behind their hands that people are actually buying it.

I TRIED to watch part of the Madonna concert just to say I did, but it was unwatchable - more like Cirque du Soleil on crack than a concert. So many distractions in the form of dancers, acrobats and light shows that I got dizzy - and Madonna's voice was miked to maximize its robotic side and power-assisted to camouflage the fact that it's really not all that good to start with. Meh. She is SO OVER, as the kids say.

I'm with you regarding Light Blue. I don't even like the colour. My sister has it, she finds it clean and fresh. I hate clean and fresh and if I want clean and fresh I can get a gazillion better tea or citrus scents. Light Blue is ok for a secound, then turns immediately sour and sharp and stale on my skin. I think it's the "standard recommendation" somehow. If someone says "Um, I don't know what perfume to buy, I'm a newbie, nothing too heavy please..." and the recommendation isn't the latest celeb scent it's Light Blue.

Hi Victoria and Cait - hope both your Thansgiving holidays were wonderful.

I couldn't ever manage a Carbonara meal, however. I make mashed potatoes so rarely that it's one of my favorite things about T-day. Glorious, glorious piles of fluffy starch. Mmmmm....

Happy You Know What. I am celebrating today as National Spaghetti Carbonara Appreciation Day a la Calvin Trillin. My family actually went for this idea. Just dropping by to say hello and I've missed you in my delinquent blogging.

Heh! I am SOOOOO looking forward to Madge's Hallmark Special Presentation phase. Now THAT I would definitely watch! Especially if it involves their stereotypical story where one of the main characters is curmudgeonly, and the other is an energetic go-getter, but somehow they just happen to discover true love and/or true friendship in between their bickering.

Hi Katie...Hm, I think a prime-time television concert is only a few steps away from a prime-time television *special*, and not too far down the road from that, is something sponsored by Hallmark.

I think Light Blue is well done, but not worthy. I love your veiled sarcasm remark...shiny happy, but then...But then indeed!

Oh my god, I am so glad I am not the only one forced to go 'round in circles with folks about it! What is with the flinty-eyed determination some of its fans have?

I did see that about "sprinkled into your fudgies." I am hoping that is some sort of crazy British slang I don't understand, and not what I think it is. Ew.

I think menessentials is okay, they look like a reputable site, and they do seem to use encryption for their checkout. Not sure abou them however, since I've only cruised through their site looking for gift ideas so far, and haven't actually ordered from them yet.

Hey, did you see the part about how it can be "sprinkled into your fudgies?"

I'm so tempted, but afraid to give those people my Visa number.
