Perfume in Art
I spend a lot of time talking about the art of perfumery, but a recent Pixel Challenge (photoshopping contest) at Television Without Pity to insert favorite characters from TV into works of art got me thinking… why not have some fun putting perfume in art?

Original, Man in the Bowler Hat by Rene Magritte:

Original, a composition by Piet Mondrian:

Original, The Death of Socrates by Jacques Louis David:

If you’re inspired or bored enough to make your own, email me at katie at scentzilla dot com, with the subject line “Perfume in Art” with your own photoshopped pieces, and I’ll post ‘em up next Friday with credit given using either your real name or a screen name, and a link to your site/blog if ya got one :)
There’s also more goofiness with perfume to be had over at Spoofume, though I have to admit I’m most partial to the Shania Twain spoof.
My entries for the Twop Challenge to insert TV characters into works of art has been temporarily uploaded as a set at Flickr. (Also in my Flickr account is an image from a previous Pixel Challenge, where we were to change a TV show’s genre: Deadwood! The Musical!)
Katie, Good job with the photoshopping! It’s awesome to see someone using the tricks to make it look authentic instead of lazily slapping a head on a body and saying heh! heh! COOL! I saw some of your TV ones, the Duke of Kinkade County is hilarious. And if I find some time this week, maybe I will take ya up on your perfume-art challenge.

Ah, thank you! I appreciate that. Hope you have time sometime during this crazy holiday week :) It’s somehow makes it even more fun to sit and play with all those art pieces you’ve grown up seeing everywhere, rather than just making up something new. Weird, yeah? Look forward to something you have up your sleeve if time allows!

Thanks so much for the props, my dear! Love the post and a couple little electronic sillies should be winging their way to you soon.

Awesome - I got the one you sent just a wee bit ago… And the props for Twain are so terribly deserved. That just tickled me to no end!
