Its All in the Name, & Truth in Labeling

I stumbled across this photo on Flickr, and cannot stop giggling. It’s an eau de toilette for dogs, which is not the funny part. When you see it, you’ll understand. (Photo by Flickr member voux)

And not quite as funny, but still amusing, please check out this display for one gift shop’s perfume. (Photo by Flickr member Datsun Z)

Gah. I’ve obviously become inured to some things Japanese, because I can’t tell what’s funny about the first one! :( Was it the incongruity of the name? Ah well. I’m going to keep an eye out for pet fragrances now. Wonder if there’s one for cats?

The second one was funny, but you know, the Japanese text says “imported from Greece” and various things about the perfume being made in Greece. There’s not a mention of France, so it might only confuse English readers. Although, I think most Japanese people can at least recognize the word France, all things French being super popular.

There is a lovely scented line for dogs (including EDT, shampoo and room refreshened if my memory serves me right) by Fruits & Passion - a Montreal based company. It smells fabulous, but is not appropriate for use on human skin, otherwise it would have been added to my scented wardrobe. The room refreshener would be the only product I could use (not being a dog owner), but I do not like to scent air…
They have really nice products - including EDT, body lotions and even edible things for the kitchen. One of those companies that make you proud being a Canadian ;) And their soaps are in rotation in the Air Canada airplanes…

kuri, yeah, it was the name… I mean, not that it’s not unusual to get slobbery dog licks all over your face from our hairy little buddies, it’s just the weird romanticism of “Summer Kisses” that is cracking me up.

Ayala, I know the Hot Dog fragrance by Fruits and Passion well. I’m not sure of any others they make, but Hot Dog is safe for human skin. I don’t see anything in the ingredients to make it unsafe, and just testing on myself it was fine (meaning, no rashes or reactions) and the product boxed itself is labeled to give the all clear for human use, too. Which, honestly, dog skin tends to be way more sensitive than people skin, especially to certain types of oils, so I’m not too worried anyhow about it :)
