Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed it. (And thanks, V.) Don't worry about being late to the party, so to speak - I've yet to figure out how to turn commenting off on all my old posts at once, but the nice part is getting to hear input like this long after the post has been archived. I can't imagine any rose lover (or for that matter, any perfume enthusiast) not falling head over heels for this scent.

I'm very, very late on testing this one and with my comment. But I wanted to say you wrote a lovely review and I am really in love with the sample I have. Usually medicinal openings turn me off immediately, but something about this keeps my attention. Love it, want it, have to get it!

Thank you, I appreciate that.

"Girly" roses are ones I do enjoy sometimes I must admit, but I just get tired of "girly" rather than "womanly" being the rule and not the exception. And Joy really is such a classic - that could be worn at any age anyhow.

I really like the way you use the art imagery to evoke the fragrances in your reviews.

I feel the same way about rose fragrances; too many are girlish or "girly" and I outgrew them long ago. (Exception: Joy, of course!) This one does seem very promising for a more mature, elegant rose fragrance. Thank you!

Heather, I do agree that it is indeed womanly. However, there seem to be some men who can really carry off certain rose perfumes well, and I can see how this might be one of them. But no, I wouldn't want this on my man, either. Of course, mine is in a monogamous relationship with Givenchy's Pi, so I guess it's sort of a moot point for me, heh.

I'd have to disagree with Barry on this one. Because this is so much a womans scent.

Much as I am a fan of this one (although I prefer the next one you are going to review)

I wouldn't want it on my man.

This fragrance appeals to the sensitive and the feminine in a way that is wholly womanly

Nice review

Robin, it is lovely. It's a beautiful perfume, as opposed to simply a pretty one.

M, I'm not sure if Andy intended his scent to be circular or not, but it is how I certainly perceive it. I really appreciate that quality, too: it seems almost like the performance of a trick to me.

V, I do hope more people will get curious about them as well. I think they deserve a much wider audience.

Barry, thank you! I do think you're right, there are certainly men who could pull this scent off with aplomb. Andy has written on his blog about creating a leather scent for men, and I am hoping when it's ready to be unveiled that it will possess this same versatility :)

Excellent review. I couldn't agree more wit your comments. I found that even though it is marketed as 'pour elle' it would be perfect also as 'pour homme'. It's certainly a perfume that I would happily wear.

Oh, this sounds amazing! Thank you for reviewing Andy's fragrances this week. I have been very curious about them.

Also, I love the imagery you placed alongside your review! Dali and Magritte's reproductions hang in my parent's house. They even have a litograph of Meditative Rose autographed by Dali. It is a pleasure to open your site and see this image.

What a stunning review of what undoubtedly must be a gorgeous perfume. I love that "circular" quality in perfumes.
