Sali Oguri Pink Manhattan

For future reference, Scentzilla! will usually be able to claim impartial subjectivity. However, just as a ship is always christened with champagne, I felt it only fitting to start things off by reviewing the fragrance of a dear acquaintance.

Sali Oguri’s Pink Manhattan is a juicy floral composition, comprised most prominently on my skin of gardenia, peach, and french vanilla. I would liken it to the experience of biting into a fresh peach. There’s this moment when you bite into the fruit, and must quickly suck in a little of the juice to keep it from dripping: that is Pink Manhattan. I notice the gardenia instantly from it softly green headiness. The peach rises up quickly to meet it. This floral-fruit cocktail is somehow balanced by the vanilla, which I initially don’t notice directly. But it’s there, oh, it’s there. The french vanilla is most apparent towards the dry down, and smells to me like pudding. In other words, it’s rather creamy as vanillas go. I don’t quite pick up on Pink Manhattan’s calla lily note until the end either, and it seems to fold nicely into the gardenia, which lingers on me through the entire wear of it.

Pink Manhattan can be obtained directly through Sali’s own site (you can even buy her beautiful CD while you’re at it), b-glowing, and lucky scent.
